What ApexLens collects and why.

Last updated September 29, 2026. ApexLens is operated by Practice Mode Labs LLC, doing business as ApexLens, a North Carolina limited liability company (registered-agent address: 4030 Wake Forest Rd, Ste 349, Raleigh, NC 27609). We are responsible for the personal information described on this page; contact privacy@apexlens.gg about privacy. We do not sell your personal information or share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. When referral and creator codes are available, we use them to credit referrals and to see where sign-ups come from.

Your account

You sign up with an email address and password. Google Firebase Authentication stores your login, so we never see your password. Resend sends account emails such as the verification link. We keep a monthly usage count (recording hours and clip minutes) against your account. If you link Discord, we store your Discord user ID and the time you linked it, and nothing else about your Discord account. If sign-up accepts a referral or creator code and you enter one, we store which code you used.

You can also sign in with Google, Twitch, Discord or Steam. If you do, we store that provider's user ID for you, the name it shows for you (your Google name, Twitch username, Discord display name, or your Steam ID), and your email address if the provider has confirmed it. We do not store the provider's access tokens, your picture, your friends or your servers. When you create an account this way we record when you accepted the Terms. You can disconnect a provider in Account, as long as another way to sign in remains.

Recordings and clips

When you upload a recording or paste a Twitch VOD link, the video is stored in a private Google Cloud Storage bucket in the United States (South Carolina). If you use a Twitch link, we store a copy of that VOD.

Before you add a recording or run a free check, you confirm that it is your own gameplay or that you have permission to use it. We store the time you confirmed this with the recording or check. The terms explain the licence you give us and how to report copyright problems.

The full recording is deleted automatically 7 days after it is added. The match list, your cuts and your Spray Check numbers stay in your account until you delete them.

Clips you make, and the aim-trail clips in Spray Check, stay until you delete them unless you choose a shorter time in Account settings: 7, 14, 30 or 90 days after the clip is made. They are then deleted automatically shortly after that time and cannot be restored. Choosing a shorter time also deletes clips you already have that are older than it. Where an academy or team is set up by us, we may set that time for the account and tell you which. Where your account has review links, replay clips made for them, and for fights you save for review, follow the same setting: they are deleted at the same age, counted from when the replay was made, even if the link is still on. The link then stays, with its numbers and comments, and shows that the replay has expired. If you keep clips until you delete them, replay clips stay until you delete the recording.

Delete recording in the app removes the recording, its source video, every clip made from it, its review links, comments and replay clips straight away. There is no recycle bin and no backup copy to restore from.

Video plays through temporary private links that expire after 45 minutes; anyone who has a valid link can use it until then. Your recordings are visible only to your signed-in account, plus, where your account has review links, anyone you choose to show through a review link or invite as a coach (see below). We look at a specific recording only when you ask us for help with it, or to investigate abuse or a fault that affects it.

Audio and other people

A recording can include your mic, your teammates' voice chat and game audio. Audio is part of your recording: it is stored, analysed and deleted with it, in the same way as the video, and we do not use it to train AI models. Before you add a recording, you confirm that you have the right to share all the voices and audio in it, including your teammates', and any consent needed to record them. We analyse audio only to help explain gameplay. We do not create voiceprints to identify people or match a voice across recordings, and we do not use voices to work out anyone's health, ethnicity, religion or other sensitive traits.

Footage can also show other players' in-game names, such as enemy names in the kill feed. We do not extract or save those names as separate data, and share cards leave them out. They can remain visible in your stored footage and in review-link videos. If you appear in someone else's footage, you do not need an account to ask us to remove it: email privacy@apexlens.gg.

Stats from your video

When available, from your recording we read numbers shown on screen, such as placement, kills, assists and damage, and estimate others, such as shots fired, time in the ring and healing. Weekly progress, when available, groups your Spray Check results by week. These stats are stored with your results and are visible to you and to anyone you show them to through a share card or review link. They are approximations from video, not official game data, and some may be missing or wrong. We do not use them for advertising.

How recordings are analyzed

To find where each match starts and ends, still frames from your recording are sent to Google's Gemini model on Vertex AI, inside our own Google Cloud project. We use Google's global endpoint, so Google may process those frames in other locations. Google does not use this data to train its models. We record the model's short text answers and frame times in LangSmith so we can debug match detection. Images and video are not sent there.

We do not use your recordings or clips to train AI models. They are used only to produce your results.

Spray Check share cards

Spray Check results are private to your account. A share card exists only if you create one. Anyone with the link can see what the card shows: the gun, the number of tracked sprays, where each one finished, the median, and your display name if you chose to include it. A share card never shows your video. When referral links are available, the card also shows yours.

You can turn a share link off in the app at any time, and the page stops showing your result. Images someone already downloaded, and link previews that apps such as Discord or X cached when the link was posted, can remain after you turn it off. We cannot remove those copies.

Review links and coaches

A review link is different: it shows video. Where your account has review links and you create one for a fight or a match, anyone with the link can, without an account, watch a replay clip of each fight, see the stats for those fights, any Spray Check results you linked, and when the link expires. The page does not show comments, your coaches, your account name or your recording's name, but the video and audio can still reveal names, voices and anything else that was captured, so a link does not make anyone in it anonymous. Anyone with the link can forward it, and anyone who can watch a clip can record their screen. To reduce the spread, the page asks search engines not to index it, is not cached, does not pass the link on to other sites, and the link is not sent to our analytics.

To make the replay clips we render part of your recording. The clip is stored in the same private bucket and stays in your account, out of your clip list. It follows your clip retention setting in Account settings: it is deleted automatically shortly after the chosen time (7, 14, 30 or 90 days after the replay was made), or stays until you delete the recording if you keep clips. We also make the replay clip when you save a fight for review, before any link exists, so you can share it after the full recording is deleted. It is not visible to anyone until you create a link, and it is kept and deleted like a link's replay clip. Turning a link off, or letting it expire, stops the link and any coach access, but does not delete the clip. When the clip is deleted the link shows that the replay has expired, and its numbers and comments stay. A video address we already handed out can keep playing for up to 45 minutes.

If your account has coach invites and you invite a coach, they need an account. We store their email address if you invite them by email, their comments, and the practice focus they set. A coach sees only the review they were invited to. Comments are visible only to you and the coaches on that review. Removing a coach does not stop anyone who already has the public link. Deleting the recording deletes the comments.

Discord

When Discord linking is available and you link Discord, you enter a one-time code (valid for 10 minutes, stored only in scrambled form) in the app. We then store your Discord user ID and the link time, and nothing else about your account. You can disconnect in the app or with the bot at any time. The bot is a set of commands: it only sees the commands you run and what you type into them, such as a clip link and the times, and it does not read messages in your server. For the free check by Discord, we handle the clip as described under Free Spray Check, and we limit it to one a day using a daily-changing hash of your Discord user ID.

When you post a result card to a channel, it becomes a public share card: Discord receives it, everyone who can see that channel can see it, and the link can be forwarded beyond the channel. The card shows results, not video. Turning off the link stops the ApexLens page but does not remove an image or copy already held by Discord or another person. Deleting the message may need the bot or someone with permission in that channel. Discord handles what it holds under its own privacy policy.

Referrals and creators

When referral links are available and someone opens one (apexlens.gg/r/ and a code), we can remember the code so we can credit the person who referred you. If you are in the EU, EEA, UK or Switzerland, or we cannot tell where you are, we ask first: we set a cookie only if you choose Accept. If you do not, we set no cookie and the code stays in the address for that visit only, and you can still use ApexLens. Everywhere else we set a first-party cookie called apexlens_ref that holds the code for 30 days. The last link opened is the one that counts. We use the cookie only to credit the referrer, and we remove it when you create an account. Opening someone's share card works the same way. We count the click, and record it in PostHog with the code (see Analytics). If you enter a creator code when you sign up, we use it the same way.

For each referred account we keep which code was used, its status (signed up, activated) and any credits earned. A referrer sees their referred players by status only, with no names or emails. We check referral activity for people referring themselves and other abuse. The creator program is by invitation; we keep the code and a display name if provided. Creators earn no credits or rewards through ApexLens; we only count the sign-ups their code brings.

Free Spray Check (no account)

On the Spray Check page you can check one clip a day without an account, by uploading a video or pasting a Twitch clip or VOD link. We only fetch Twitch links; for a clip on X, YouTube or TikTok, download it and upload the file. We download or receive the clip only to check it, on our Google Cloud servers. It is stored in the same private bucket, deleted once the check finishes and always within 24 hours. The short spray clips we make from it are deleted within 24 hours as well.

The result (the numbers, with no video) is kept for 30 days at a private link, then deleted. Anyone you give the link to can see it. A share card you make from it stays up for those 30 days.

To limit free checks to one a day per person, we keep a salted, daily-changing hash of your IP address for two days. We do not store the IP address in our database. Our hosting logs, which are kept for about 30 days, can include it. The page may show a Cloudflare Turnstile check to stop automated abuse.

Email is optional. If you ask us to email the result, Resend sends that one message and we record that you agreed, not your address. If you also tick the updates box, Resend stores your address as described under Email updates.

Players under 18

ApexLens is not for children under 13. Players aged 13 to 17 need a parent or guardian's permission to use it or to have their footage uploaded. Coaches, teams and academies uploading a student's footage must have that permission first. If you think a child under 13 has an account or footage here, email us and we will delete it.

Analytics

We use PostHog to count a small set of events such as page views, signups, uploads and saved clips, along with page, referring site and campaign labels, and the referral or creator code that brought you here. This is how we tell where sign-ups come from. Events use a random ID stored in your browser. Recording IDs are masked, and we do not send email addresses, names or video to PostHog.

Cookies and browser storage

A sign-in cookie keeps you logged in. Your browser also stores the random analytics ID, your recently opened recordings and any unsaved drafts. The referral cookie above is set only when you open a referral link or a share card, and in the EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland only if you accept it. We do not use advertising cookies.

While you sign in with Google, Twitch, Discord or Steam, a short-lived cookie (up to 15 minutes) ties the sign-in to your browser. We remove it when you finish.

Email updates

If you joined the earlier waitlist, Resend stores your email address, consent time and referring page so we can send occasional product updates. Every email has an unsubscribe link.

Rotation replay beta

The rotation replay beta works from a public Twitch VOD link and needs no account. Checking a link reads only the VOD's public details. After you confirm, we download the VOD, in parts, to our Google Cloud servers only while we process it; we do not keep the video. For each match it finds, we keep a map image of your route, a short route replay drawn on the map, and small minimap images from your footage as evidence. These results are kept at a private link for 30 days and then deleted, and you can delete them sooner from the results page.

A cookie keeps your rotation session so you can return to your results, and we use salted, daily-changing hashes of your IP address and browser type to limit how many VODs are checked. If you ask us to email you when a replay is ready, we keep your address encrypted only until that email is sent, and remove it if you delete the results.

Who processes your data

Our processors handle data on our behalf only to run ApexLens. Discord is not our processor: if you use the bot, Discord handles what you post there under its own policy. Our processors are: Google Cloud (storage, computing, Firebase Authentication, and Gemini on Vertex AI for analysis), Resend (email), LangSmith (debug logs of model text answers), PostHog (analytics) and Cloudflare (Turnstile and email routing).

Google, Twitch, Discord and Valve (Steam) are not our processors: when you sign in with them, they handle your login under their own privacy policies.

How long we keep other data

Your account and analysis data (recordings list, cuts, Spray Check numbers, stats, comments, referral and credit records, and the record of your rights confirmation) is kept while your account is active. When you ask us to delete your account, we delete it within 30 days. Deleting a recording removes its data straight away, as described above.

Server logs, which can include IP addresses, recording IDs and error messages, are kept for about 30 days, Google Cloud's standard setting, which we have not changed. Product analytics events in PostHog are kept for 12 months. Debug logs in LangSmith (frame times and short text answers, no images or video) are kept for a limited time under LangSmith's own retention settings. Email providers keep delivery records under their own policies.

We do not schedule backups of your account data or recordings. We do not charge for ApexLens today; if we start, we will keep billing records for as long as the law requires.

Where your data goes

Recordings, clips and account data are stored in Google Cloud in South Carolina, United States. Analytics events go to PostHog's US cloud. If you are in the EU, EEA, UK or Switzerland, your data is therefore transferred to the United States. For those transfers we rely on the standard contractual clauses (and the UK addendum where it applies) in Google Cloud's and PostHog's data processing terms. Email privacy@apexlens.gg if you want more detail.

Your choices

You can delete recordings in the app at any time, turn off any share link (and, where your account has them, any review link or coach), choose how long clips are kept, and disconnect Discord if you linked it. To delete your account and everything in it, or to get a copy of your data, email privacy@apexlens.gg. We handle these requests by hand and will confirm when it is done.

You can also use that address to ask for access to, correction of or deletion of personal information about you, including in someone else's footage. You do not need an ApexLens account. Depending on the law that applies to you, you may also ask for a portable copy, object to processing or ask us to restrict it, and where we rely on your consent you can withdraw it. We may ask for information to check who you are and to find the data. We will answer within the deadline the law sets and explain any refusal. You can complain to your local data protection authority, including the ICO in the UK. California residents can use an authorised agent, and we will not treat you worse for using your privacy rights.

We use your account and gameplay information to provide the service you asked for. We rely on our legitimate interests to keep the service secure, investigate abuse and fix faults, on your consent for optional tracking and marketing email, and on the law where we must. If another person's upload or Twitch recording contains your voice, image or game name, that is where we got it. You can ask us to remove it or object.
